Premier Mica Company (PMC) had its humble beginning in 1945 at Gudur, an important commercial town in the Southern state of Andhra Pradesh. From its inception, the firm has seen rapid growth establishing itself as a major producer and exporter of high quality mica and other mineral products. Though mica remains the main product, PMC now offers high quality products of Vermiculite, Garnet, Silica sand, Quartz and Feldspar.

Some of the recent developments of PMC are as follows:

Automobile components – Brake linings: The main compound in brake linings used to be Asbestos, which has now been banned since it is a carcinogen. Therefore auto manufacturers have asked the component manufacturers to develop non-asbestos linings. One of the choices was mica, but mica had to be per high specification required by auto component industry. PREMICA™ mica is now to be successfully used for the manufacture of OE brake linings.
Construction Industry – China and South Africa are world leaders in Vermiculite. But a multi national company based in the UAE wanted to develop a new source for vermiculite for fire proofing products. PMC developed a product based on vermiculite to match international standards.
Flooring – Very pure and high specification sand is required for seemless floors. PMC developed a product from sands mined in Andhra Pradesh. These are giving results superior to sand from USA.
Packing solutions – The high logistic cost in Europe has made it very important for the packaging to be perfect, so that the materials can be directly moved to production floor and minimise handing. PMC supplies material paletised as per European specifications.
