Mica (from the Latin micare, meaning 'to shine') is a naturally occurring sheet silicate which is non-toxic and non-carcinogenic. Muscovite mica, one of its common forms, is extracted by PMC from its Bhavani Shankara Mine and processed at the in-house plant to produce a wide range of mica products meeting international specifications and catering to the demands of a large number of industries worldwide.

Wet Ground Mica Powder

Manufactured from the purest muscovite mica, by a slow, frictional delamination process, this unique mica powder finds a wide variety of applications in industries like rubber, plastics, paints and cosmetics.

PREMICA wet ground mica is processed in ceramic lined mills to prevent metal contamination, thereby ensuring a product of the highest purity. The PREMICA wet ground mica conforms to ASTM standards (D-607-75).

PREMICA increases flexural strength and modules, raises heat deflection temperature and reduces wrapage and shrinkage. As a result, PREMICA is in great demand as a filler, especially where thermal and structural stability are important considerations.

PREMICA's natural sheen and lustre coupled with the advantages of being non-toxic and non-carcinogenic, makes it an excellent raw material in the cosmetics, paints, plastics and pigments manufacturing industries.

PREMICA-ACL is a super-fine grade of wet ground mica, with an average particle size of 2 - 5 microns. This distinct product from PMC is intended for high-end, specialised applications in industries.

The above regular grade mica products are also available as PREMICA (W), which has a gloss reflectance of 82% against 100% MgO. This product has a much whiter colour and hence finds great importance in the paints and cosmetics industries. The specifications of PREMICA (W) are the same as that of our regular grades.

Mica Flakes

Ground into various sizes from pure muscovite mica, PREMICA mica flakes are greatly sought after by industries involved in manufacturing oil drilling machinery, brake linings, clutch facings and acoustic speakers. PREMICA flakes are absolutely free from any contamination and are seen as a safe alternative to asbestos. PREMICA flakes are also used for decorative purposes because of their natural lustre.

Micronised Mica Powder

This versatile product from PMC is used extensively in paints, due to its anti-corrosive and anti-tarnish properties. The overlapping layers of mica platelets form a tough shield, thereby improving paint integrity and durability.

It is also used in producing plastics of lower specification and in welding electrodes.

Mica Blocks

PREMICA mica blocks are available in a wide range of size specifications starting from size 6 to special size - 100 up. PREMICA is also available in customised sizes, cut according to specifications required by our clients.
